Stephen Sheridan has been a lecturer in the Institute of Technology in Blanchardstown (ITB) since 2000. Since joining ITB, Stephen has been involved in the design and delivery of a wide range of Computer Science programmes and has acted as course coordinator for the final year of ITB’s B.Sc. (Hons) in Computing as well as acting as an academic representative on ITB’s academic council. In the past, Stephen has been invited to act as an expert panel member in the area of cyber security, for programme validation panels and has given a number of guest lectures in the area of covert channels. Stephen is a member of ITB’s Security Research Lab and is currently working towards a Ph.D. in the area of covert channels, in particular those that leverage the Domain Name System (DNS) for the purposes of data exfilatration and malware command and control. Stephen has presented some of his DNS-based covert channel research at Irish research symposiums, European research conferences and his more recent work in this area has been published in the Journal of Information Warfare.
