Jonathan McCarthy

CIT
Jonathan joined CIT in 2013 and currently heads the high performing IT Department there. Under Jonathan’s leadership, the department has adopted 6 guiding principles to guide high quality IT service delivery across the Institute: Customer Focused; Quality Focused; Continuous Improvement; Investing in People; Communicating Effectively; Process Driven.

Jonathan has a BSc in Computing from UL, an MCOMM from UCC, a Post Graduate Diploma from UCD and is currently completing his PhD in UCC.

Prior to joining CIT, Jonathan worked at HIQA as Head of IT where he led a major transformation of how the Authority conducted its business, with a major process redesign programme undertaken and completed before the introduction of a new regulation system supporting those transformed processes. This transformed how the Authority collected, stored and analysed data and resulted in reducing the cost of inspection by 50% across the Authority.

Before HIQA he worked as a graduate with EMCs IT Department; spending 10 years working as a Programmer, Snr Programmer and Manager. Jonathan led the introduction of a Data Analytics function, driving a culture of information led decision making into the organisation. Jonathan led the analytics department in EMC with the team (51) split between Cork, Boston, California and Mumbai.
