Dublin City University (DCU) are in the process of implementing an ambitious €230M campus development plan. Investment in the physical teaching spaces to create modern learning environments where staff and students can work to their full potential is an important part of the plan. DCU wishes to create the best possible teaching and learning experiences based on the most up to date research and modern technology.

This presentation will describe the collaborative journey taken in DCU between the IT Department (ISS), Estates Office and the Teaching Enhancement Unit (TEU) and the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL) to tackle the challenge of modernising our teaching spaces. We will show concrete examples of teaching spaces which have been redesigned to meet modern demands and discuss the positive impact on teaching and learning.

The technology deployed to support these modern classrooms will be discussed in detail. We will provide information on the reasoning which informed our technology choices and how those choices are benefiting the staff and students of DCU. Naturally we will highlight the challenges encountered and the lessons learned along the way.
