As more and more NRENs are being encouraged by stakeholders to become cloud competent, and move services into the cloud, I drink the kool­aid, and after taking a three­day "Architecting on AWS" course, try my hands at moving our FileSender service into the cloud.

Is the cloud a silver bullet for running scalable and resilient services? How much progress can I make in just one week? I will cover some of the initial hurdles, pitfalls and successes that I have encountered.
