Athena has a BSc in Medical Genetics from Queen Mary University of London.

She is currently completing a Graduate Medicine programme at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). She is an active member of the surgical research team with a special interest in investigating 360 degree educational videos and recently co-authored a paper in the Journal of Surgical Education (JSE) on this topic.
