LT03: Evaluating the Potential for Automated Open Access Monitoring

TIME STAMP 05:53 - 12:06

In recent years, a number of services have emerged which seek to provide holistic, accurate information on the Open Access availability of research papers. In general these services provide access to their data through APIs, enabling third-party re-use.

As part of the National Open Research Forum Infrastructure Working Group, work was undertaken to evaluate the coverage and accuracy of these services. This talk will show how over 70K Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) relating to Irish research publications were queried against the various services and how the results were analysed to give new insight into Open Access penetration within Ireland.
